
Born on May 1, 1985 in Golbaf, she is a member of the National Archery
team of women with disabilities in Iran. She is the first woman in the history
of Iranian sports to win a gold medal at the World, Olympic and Paralympic
Games. She was also honored to receive the prestigious award for the best
athlete of the 2012 London Paralympic Games from the International Sport Accord
on May 29, 2013 at the IOC Ceremony in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Honors
London 2012 Paralympic Games
Zahra Nemati won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games
in the individual recurve category and immortalized her name as the first and
only woman in the history of Iranian sports to win a gold medal at the Olympic
and Paralympic levels.
She also won the third title and the bronze medal at the London 2012
Paralympics, along with Razieh Shirmohammadi and Zahra Javanmard, who formed
the Iranian Women’s National Archery team in the team section.

Zahra Nemati was honored to receive the prestigious award for the
best athlete of the London 2012 Paralympics on May 29, 2013 by the Sport
Accord.
Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games
She is the first Iranian athlete, the first Asian woman and the
thirteenth athlete in history to win a quota in both the Olympic and the
Paralympic Games (in Rio 2016); she was also selected as the flag bearer of
Iran in Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games by the decision of the National Olympic
Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran. By this account, she is the first
disabled Muslim woman to become the flag bearer of a country's Olympic delegation.
