Secretary-General Highlights Support for National Karate Team
The Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, visited the national karate team training camp to assess preparations for the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya, emphasizing the NOC’s steadfast commitment to the squad.

Iran NOC; Tehran: During the visit, attended by high-ranking officials including Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, Deputy of Presidential Protocol where National Team Head Coach Seyyed Shahram Heravi presented a progress report. Heravi praised the visit for “boosting the spirit of the national team members,” noting that the squad is determined to achieve “historic results” in both kata and kumite categories to surpass previous performances.

 

Dr. Mahdi Alinejad reflected on his decades-long association with the sport, stating, “Our perspective on karate has always been one of support.” He underscored the athletes’ heightened responsibility in the current climate, noting that despite economic constraints, the government and the NOC remain dedicated to providing resources, as sports are vital for “social vitality and increasing national pride.”

 

Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, a member of the federation’s board, reaffirmed the link between championship sports and national unity. “Expectations today are centered on national identity and social unity,” Mousavi remarked, highlighting that the country’s President, as a sports enthusiast, continues to stand alongside the athletic community, with high hopes for the delegation’s success in Nagoya.
