As the countdown to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya begins, Iranian national athletes across various disciplines are undergoing rigorous physical, medical, and psychological evaluations at the National Olympic Academy to ensure peak performance.
Iran
NOC; Tehran: National teams for fencing, kurash, canoeing/kayaking, kabaddi,
basketball, and volleyball have recently completed comprehensive assessment
cycles. For the fencing squad, coach Mohammad Rahbari confirmed that the final
roster has been finalized based on performance benchmarks and international
competition results over the past six months. Simultaneously, the kurash and
kabaddi teams have engaged in specialized sessions analyzing diagnostic
interviews and brain mapping to optimize psychological readiness, with kabaddi
staff also coordinating logistical training plans for upcoming camps in India.
The
medical and physical monitoring, spearheaded by the Sports Medicine Federation
and the National Olympic Academy, provides a holistic health check for
athletes. Squads such as basketball and volleyball have received extensive
screenings, ranging from cardiovascular and orthopedic checks to nutrition
counseling and vision testing.
These
assessments are critical as the athletes prepare for the 20th Asian Games,
which are scheduled to take place in September 2026, where they will face
high-level continental competition. Meanwhile, the physical and mental performance
of the national tennis players, who are preparing for a successful appearance
at the Nagoya Asian Games, was thoroughly evaluated by experts at the Medical
and Physical Fitness Assessment Center of the National Olympic Academy.
