Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General of Iran’s National Olympic Committee, congratulated the country’s media community on National Journalists’ Day, commending journalists for transforming sporting achievements into enduring public memories.
Iran NOC; Tehran: In his message marking 8th
of August, Dr. Alinejad paid tribute to the late martyr Mahmoud Saremi and recognized
the dedicated efforts of sports journalists. He highlighted that every medal,
record and victory becomes meaningful to the public only when it is conveyed
through the work of honest narrators.
“Through their writing, cameras and other tools at their
disposal, journalists portray the spirit of sport and turn momentary achievements
into lasting memories,” Sec-Gen said. Dr. Alinejad noted that every brief
report and striking photograph represents hours of effort, sleepless nights and
hardship, adding that journalists have remained alongside Iranian athletes in
the heat of competition venues, the cold of stadiums and the most difficult
circumstances to bring the nation their moments of joy and victory.
He also praised journalists for their courage in
documenting the truth during challenging wartime days, describing them as
witnesses to history who record pivotal moments for future generations.
Thanking sports reporters and photographers for giving voice to athletes who
might otherwise go unnoticed, as well as for their constructive and
compassionate criticism, Dr. Alinejad expressed hope that they would continue
to help tell new stories of Iranian success with passion, enthusiasm and
professional ethics.
