Iran’s Davis Cup team secured a historic direct qualification to the World Group II playoffs after defeating Saudi Arabia and reaching the final of the Asia-Oceania Group III competition.

NOC; Tehran: Iran defeated Saudi Arabia in Malaysia after singles victories by
Sina Moghimi and Ali Yazdani. Moghimi beat Saud Alhaqban 6-2, 7-6, while
Yazdani defeated Ammar Alhaqban 6-3, 6-3 to seal Iran’s promotion. The Iranian
team had previously defeated hosts Malaysia and Vietnam and advanced directly
to the World Group II playoffs after an unbeaten run. Led by captain and head
coach Hamid Reza Nadaf, Iran’s squad includes Ali Yazdani, Sina Moghimi, Samyar
Elyasi and Younes Talavar.
