The 66th meeting of the Executive Board of National Olympic Committee was held, with key decisions made regarding the country’s participation in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, including the appointment of flag bearers, delegation composition and athlete rewards.
Iran
NOC; Tehran: Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, the NOC Secretary-General, announced that
Fazel Atrachali, captain of Iran’s national kabaddi team, and Atousa
Golshadnejad, world karate champion, have been selected as the flag bearers of
the Iranian delegation. The decision followed a proposal by the Athletes’
Commission, which was approved by the Executive Board. The meeting also
approved the medal bonuses for Iranian athletes at the Asian Games, The NOC
confirmed that athletes in team sports will receive the same rewards as
individual athletes.
Dr.
Alinejad also added that the final composition of Iranian delegation was
approved, with 308 athletes, including 214 men and 94 women, set to represent
the country in Nagoya. The Executive Board also approved the financial
arrangements for athletes, coaches, officials and other members of the
delegation. The board further approved the general framework of cultural
programmes for before, during and after the Games, as well as the launch of an
“Olympic Channel” to expand the National Olympic Committee’s media activities. The
20th Asian Games will take place from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in
Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
