Sports & Environment Commission Outlines New Sustainability Initiatives
The Sports and Environment Commission held its second session of the year to address sustainable development goals and coordinate environmental protection programs across national sports federations.

Iran NOC; Tehran: During the meeting, Commission Chair Ms. Mehrafza Manouchehri reported on recent sessions regarding global environmental guidelines in sports. It was determined that the fourth expert meeting will be held in October, coinciding with Physical Education Week at the National Olympic Academy. The commission plans to facilitate this event in close cooperation with several federations, including Lifesaving, Sports for All, and Equestrian. The commission also prioritized cultural preservation by initiating the transfer of two historical statues from the 12000-seat Azadi Stadium complex to the National Olympic Committee Museum.

Furthermore, a comprehensive environmental charter—aligned with International Olympic Committee (IOC) mandates—will be developed to promote sustainable practices across all federations, in coordination with the Ministry of Sport and Youth. Finally, members approved a proposal to integrate environmental management topics into the advanced “Solidarity” sports course. This initiative has been submitted to the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee for formal approval and implementation.
