Environmental Protection Guidelines in Sports NFs’ Meeting

Environmental Protection Guidelines in Sports NFs’ Meeting
The National Olympic Committee of Iran will host a dedicated session on global environmental protection standards in sports, coinciding with World Environment Week.

Iran NOC; Tehran: The meeting is scheduled at the Farsi Hall of the Olympic Academy. The session aims to present international guidelines and best practices for environmental sustainability across sports disciplines, highlighting the reciprocal impact between sport and the environment. Officials emphasized that environmental responsibility has become a critical requirement for hosting major sporting events, particularly the Olympic Games.

Since 1944, the International Olympic Committee has integrated sustainability into its agenda, adding environmental stewardship as a core principle of sport and culture in the Olympic Charter, establishing the Sustainability and Legacy Commission, and organizing biennial conferences to institutionalize sustainable practices in sport.

The upcoming session will cover environmental protection requirements in Mountaineering, Basketball, Rowing, Skiing, and Winter Sports, alongside the latest global recommendations on climate change and HSE (health, safety, and environment) standards. Representatives from relevant federations and the NOC Sport and Environment Commission will participate, fostering discussion and knowledge-sharing on practical implementation of sustainability in sports.
