The annual meeting of Asian governments on anti-doping, along with the Asia-Oceania Annual Symposium, was held.

NOC; Tehran: Dr. Gholamreza Norouzi, Secretary-General of the Iran National
Anti-Doping Organization (Iran NADO), and Dr. Reza Saeidi, Deputy
Secretary-General, represented the Islamic Republic of Iran at this high-level
summit. The event was hosted at the China National Convention Center in
Beijing. Attendees included the President and Director General of the World
Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), alongside over 100 representatives from 42
countries. During the symposium, WADA emphasized the pivotal role of
governments in the effective implementation of the “2027 World Anti-Doping
Code” and the new international standards.
WADA
President Witold Bańka, Vice-President Yang Yang, and Director General Olivier
Niggli outlined the organization’s strategic priorities. They urged governments
to initiate necessary measures immediately for the implementation of the
updated World Anti-Doping Code, which is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
Ministers and government representatives present adopted a joint resolution,
underscoring the responsibility of governments to provide financial resources,
support national anti-doping programs, and collaborate closely with national
and regional anti-doping organizations (NADOs and RADOs) to implement the 2027
Code.
During
the summit, Dr. Norouzi presented a comprehensive report on the performance of
the Iran National Anti-Doping Organization. In a private meeting with Witold
Bańka, Iran NADO’s structured and targeted anti-doping activities were detailed.
The WADA President highly commended Iran NADO’s collective efforts and
achievements. NADO Secretary-General also addressed the challenges faced by
Iran due to external pressures. Acknowledging these circumstances, WADA pledged
to facilitate conditions and enhance cooperation to support Iran NADO’s ongoing
activities and international standing.
