Iran
NOC; Tehran: The primary focus of the session was the upcoming “Fourth National
and International Conference on Women and Sport,” scheduled for November 2026.
The conference will be held under the theme “From Field to Arena Under the
Blessed Tree,” in remembrance of the martyred girls of Minab. The meeting
commenced with a report from Dr. Farhadizad, Chair of the Women and Sport
Commission, who outlined the progress of preparatory meetings and the
policy-making process for the conference. Dr. Afsaneh Dehghani, the
conference’s Executive Manager, subsequently provided detailed explanations regarding
the event’s objectives, approaches, and operational plans. Emphasis was placed
on the current significance of women’s sports extending beyond mere physical
activity. It was highlighted that sports can serve as a potent platform for
enhancing individual and social resilience among women, facilitating
psychological and social recovery in crisis situations, promoting physical and
mental well-being, fostering cultural and international connections, and
increasing women’s participation in sports management and decision-making.
Consequently,
the Fourth National and International Conference on Women and Sport will
concentrate on the role of sports in strengthening women’s resilience,
advancing sports diplomacy, improving health outcomes, promoting social equity,
and leveraging novel technologies in women’s sports, adopting a scientific,
strategic, and operational approach. A key objective of the conference is to
contribute to the formulation of a strategic document aimed at informing
decision-making and practical action within the domain of women’s sports.
Furthermore,
it was decided that the main themes of the conference will align with the five
key areas emphasized by the International Olympic Committee concerning gender
equity: “Image,” “Participation,” “Equal Opportunities,” “Resources,” and
“Safety.” These will serve as the core topics for discussions and specialized
sessions. Commission members engaged in a thorough discussion of the issues
raised and explored optimal strategies for the conference’s successful
execution. In conclusion, all members were requested to submit their proposals
and perspectives to the commission. These will be compiled and finalized by the
conference’s scientific and executive teams to guide the subsequent planning
stages for the event.
