Iranian Female Track Athlete Shines with Double Silver in Asian Champ.
Iranian athlete Hanieh Shahpari delivered a remarkable performance at the 22nd Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Hong Kong 2026, capturing two silver medals in the 3000m steeplechase and 3000m events while also setting a new national record.

Iran NOC; Tehran: On the second day of competition, Shahpari finished second in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:26.34, breaking the Iranian senior national record she herself had previously held at 10:29.24. The Japanese runner Rei Taya took the gold in 10:22.52, while Uzbekistan’s Sadaf Buno Nosrat Ilova secured bronze in 10:37.32.

Her earlier achievement came in the 3000m flat race, where she clocked 9:49.42 to earn another silver medal for Iran. In that event, China’s Shanggu Pan took first place with 9:36.02, and Uzbekistan’s Dilnoza Hoshmova finished third in 10:29.72. Shahpari’s back-to-back podium finishes underline the growing strength of Iranian women’s middle- and long-distance athletics on the continental stage. Her performances not only added two medals to Iran’s tally but also demonstrated technical maturity, competitive consistency and the ability to deliver under pressure in a major international championship.

Iran’s success in Hong Kong was further highlighted by fellow national team member Maryam Ahmadi, who claimed a silver medal in the 1500m on the opening day of the championships, adding to the delegation’s strong start at the continental event.
