Technical evaluations for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are continuing, as sports officials rigorously assess the performance potential and preparation strategies of eight major Iranian sports federations.

NOC; Tehran: In the latest round of specialized review sessions held at the
National Olympic Committee, representatives from Judo, Kurash, Skateboarding,
Ju-Jitsu, Basketball, Mountaineering, Karate, and Sepak Takraw presented their
technical roadmaps. The meetings included key stakeholders, including the NOC
Secretary-General, the Chef de Mission, representatives from the Ministry of
Sport and Youth, and the Director of the National Team Monitoring Center, all
aiming to align performance metrics with the strategic objectives of the
upcoming Asian Games.
The NOC
Secretary-General Dr. Mahdi Alinejad emphasized on the necessity of a balanced
approach in finalizing the roster. He stated: “We are conducting a meticulous,
expert-driven review to ensure the most effective decisions for the Iranian
delegation. Our priority is to find a logical balance between medal-winning
capacity, technical readiness, and logistical deployment costs. The fact that
while the primary criterion remains performance at the Asian level, the NOC
also considers the developmental prospects of emerging sports”.

Rahimi, the Chef de Mission for the 2026 Games, highlighted the importance of
these consultations in minimizing decision-making errors. Representing the
Ministry of Sport and Youth, Mohammadreza Abedi Mahzoon reiterated the
government’s commitment to a results-oriented strategy. The series of meetings
concluded with a comprehensive report from Dr. Reza Shajie, Director of the
National Team Monitoring Center, who detailed the specialized evaluations
regarding training camps, athlete conditions, and the strategic roadmaps
submitted by the federations.
