The 14th meeting of the Sports Psychology Commission of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) was held with the aim of developing and strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the Commission and the Psychology Center of the National Olympic Academy.
Iran NOC; Tehran: at the
beginning of the meeting Dr. Nasser Sobhi Gharamaleki, Chair of the Sports
Psychology Commission, stressed the importance of safeguarding and enhancing
the mental health of athletes and coaches, in line with the Commission’s
professional mandate and social responsibility. He proposed that the Psychology
Center of the National Olympic Academy, in cooperation with Commission members
and affiliated sports psychologists, maintain an active and continuous presence
alongside athletes and coaches in order to provide specialized mental health
support under current conditions. In this context, Commission members
underlined their readiness to allocate time and offer specialized counseling
services to athletes, technical staff, employees of the NOC and the National
Olympic Academy, as well as their families. The preparation and dissemination
of educational podcasts and video clips, to be followed up by the Psychology
Center of the National Olympic Academy, was also discussed.
The meeting further emphasized
the need to better organize the activities of collaborating sports
psychologists and to deliver specialized, targeted services tailored to the
needs of elite athletes. Accordingly, it was decided that the organization of
dedicated training courses for sports psychologists be included in the agenda
of the Psychology Center of the National Olympic Academy.
