On the third day of specialized coordination meetings between the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport regarding disciplines under consideration for the Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, officials and coaching staffs from Cycling, Football, Handball and Judo presented updates on their current status and discussed key technical issues ahead of the Games.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The sessions
were held with senior officials in attendance. The Secretary-General of the NOC
underlined that, at a major event such as the Asian Games, the primary focus is
on medal prospects, noting that support for national federations is aligned
with this objective and that federations are expected to maintain a strong
performance-oriented approach. The Chef de Mission provided discipline-specific
briefings and outlined host-country conditions to ensure teams have a clear
understanding of the competition environment. The Director of the National
Teams Monitoring Center presented statistical tables and performance forecasts,
including projected records, rankings, and medal chances for both team and
individual sports, based on recent results and assessments of key rivals. Discussions also covered athlete
selection criteria, medal potential, preparation camps, federations’ training programs, competitors’ rankings and readiness, upcoming competitions leading
up to the Games, and their impact on final team selection. The meetings further
addressed how the NOC can best support federations in optimizing preparation
and boosting medal prospects for both men’s and women’s events. Representatives
from the NFs, including federation presidents, secretaries-general,
vice-presidents, coaching staff and national team coaches, took part in the
meetings and contributed to the technical exchanges.
