The 11th meeting of the Sports Psychology and Counselling Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Iran was held on Sunday, 28 December, at the NOC headquarters.
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the start of
the session, Nasser Sobhi Gharamaleki, Chair of the Commission, presented the
agenda and reported on the commission’s recent activities and programmes. This
was followed by a briefing from Ahmad Ghazi Asgar, Secretary of the Commission,
on the procedures and criteria used to assess the professional qualifications
of sports psychologists cooperating with the National Olympic Academy’s Sports
Psychology Centre.
In the second part of the
meeting, Dr. Reza Shajie, Director of the National Teams Monitoring Centre,
outlined an AI-based electronic system used to monitor athlete performance,
including psychological performance indicators. Given the importance of mental
readiness and psychological health in improving competitive outcomes, it was
agreed that a comprehensive analytical report would be presented at the next
session, with appropriate psychological measures to be considered ahead of the
Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games. The meeting concluded with the evaluation of five
candidates invited to cooperate with the Sports Psychology Centre, during which
their academic background, professional experience and professional
qualifications were reviewed by commission members.
