Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth, Dr. Ahmad Donyamali, has issued a message congratulating Olympian Soraya Aghaei on her election as a Member of the International Olympic Committee, calling the achievement an important milestone for Iranian sport and for the nation’s women athletes.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The minister’s
statement reads as follows:
In the name of God, the
All-Knowing and Almighty.
Securing this highly influential
and valuable position within the International Olympic Committee by our
distinguished athlete, Ms. Soraya Aghaei — following her recent appointment to
the IOC Athletes’ Commission — represents a major source of pride for the
Iranian nation and its sporting community. It also serves as clear evidence of
the talent, merit and rising international standing of Iranian women athletes.
One of the most significant
outcomes of this membership is the global representation of the dignity,
capability and strength of Iranian sportswomen. This achievement shows that,
through competence and sustained effort, our athletes have presented the true
stature of Iranian women to the world and stand as a shining example of the
nation’s cultural and sporting capacity.
This historic success, which
restores Iran’s presence among influential IOC members after more than two
decades, reflects not only the merit and perseverance of this Olympian but also
the planning and continued efforts of the National Olympic Committee in
supporting the country’s representatives on the world stage.
I extend my sincere
congratulations to this outstanding athlete, to the wider sporting community
and to the people of Iran. I also express heartfelt appreciation to all those
who contributed to regaining this valuable position and elevating Iran’s status
in global sport. I hope that this achievement opens a new chapter in sports
diplomacy, expands international opportunities for Iranian women and leads to
lasting accomplishments for our beloved Iran.
