Iran’s Ministry of Sport and the National Olympic Committee held a joint review meeting following the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, where Iran competed with 190 athletes in 20 sports and finished third overall with 29 gold, 19 silver and 33 bronze medals.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Turkey topped
the medal table with 72 gold, 44 silver and 39 bronze medals, while Uzbekistan
placed second with 29 gold, 35 silver and 32 bronze, finishing ahead of Iran on
silver count despite equal gold medals. Officials described Iran’s overall
performance as acceptable, highlighting eight wrestling gold medals, the
country’s first-ever women’s boxing medal, gold medals in swimming, and a 40
percent share of total medals won by women. The meeting also confirmed that the
Riyadh Games served as a key preparation event for the 2026 Asian Games in
Nagoya, with stricter performance evaluations planned for underperforming
federations.
