The official page of United World Wrestling (UWW) has announced the nominees for the Best Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestlers of the Year 2025, with Iran securing a strong and notable presence on the list.
Iran
NOC; Tehran: Iran’s Greco-Roman national team has three nominees, while the
freestyle team is represented by two wrestlers. Alongside the United States,
Iran has the highest number of candidates among all countries. In the freestyle
category, Rahman Amouzad and Amirhossein Zare represent Iran and will compete
for the title against: Zaur Uguev (Russia), Zahid Valencia (USA), Kyle Snyder
(USA).
In
the Greco-Roman category, Saeid Esmaeili, Gholamreza Farkhi, and Mohammad Hadi
Saravi are among the final nominees and will compete with Malkhas Amoyan
(Armenia), Aitkhan Khalmakhanov (Kazakhstan). Out of the ten wrestlers
nominated overall, five are Iranian, accounting for 50 percent of the total
candidates—highlighting the prominent global standing of Iranian wrestling.
