The Sports Law Commission of the National Olympic Committee officially launched its new term of activities with the participation of senior NOC officials.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The first
meeting of the new term was held with the attendance of Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa,
NOC President, Dr. Mahdi Alinajad, Secretary-General, and Dr. Mahin Farhadizad,
NOC Vice President. During the session, official appointment letters of the
commission members were presented. At the opening of the meeting, Khosravi Vafa
referred to the international standing of the International Olympic Committee
and its influential role in relations among governments. Dr. Alinajad also
highlighted the role of the National Olympic Committees as the official
cross-border communication authorities in the field of sport, emphasizing the
importance of addressing existing legal gaps in Iran’s sports sector. Dr.
Farhadizad expressed optimism about the strong legal expertise gathered within
the commission and voiced hope for meaningful achievements during the new term.
Dr. Laya Joneydi, Chair of the
Sports Law Commission, addressed the growing role of transnational sports law
as an independent legal discipline that has evolved from the rules of
international commercial law into a unified global legal mechanism with
coherent international regulatory frameworks. During the session, commission
members exchanged views and presented proposals regarding the commission’s
strategic outlook and working agenda for the current year. Soraya Aghaei,
Iran’s first representative on the IOC Athletes’ Commission, attended the
meeting as a special guest.
