Iran claimed second place at the 27th World Karate Championships in Cairo, held in November, securing one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Golshadnezhad won a historic gold for Iran’s women, while Saleh Abazari earned
silver and Sara Bahmanyar took bronze. Egypt topped the standings with three
golds and one bronze. Turkey, Japan, Italy and Iran shared second place
overall, each collecting one gold, one silver and one bronze. Golshadnezhad’s
victory marked the first-ever women’s world title for Iranian karate.
The National Olympic Committee
congratulated the team and the karate federation on this runner-up finish,
praising the athletes’ determination and the coaching staff’s efforts. The
message described the achievement as a proud moment for Iranian karate and a
sign of continued progress. The NOC reflected that the accomplishment
