Iran’s Ministry of Sport and the National Olympic Committee inaugurated the “Meeting with Iran’s Son: titled Aqa Takhti” exhibition, celebrating the late champion’s faith, integrity and lifelong spirit of humility and fair play.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The ceremony
was attended by Minister of Sport Ahmad Donyamali, NOC President Mahmoud
Khosravivafa, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
representatives of cultural institutions, Olympic medalists, veteran athletes
and members of Gholamreza Takhti’s family.
Under an agreement between the
National Olympic Committee and the Malek National Library and Museum, original
documents, photos and artefacts belonging to Takhti have been collected and
displayed across a 300-square-metre gallery, designed in cooperation with the
National Sport, Olympic and Paralympic Museum. As Takhti’s medals and
armbands had been donated to Astan Qods Razavi — the parent institution of the
Malek Museum — special arrangements were made to bring these prized items to
Tehran for public viewing for the first time. The exhibition will be open to
the public daily from Tuesday, December 10.
