The National Olympic Committee Sports Psychology Commission convened the tenth meeting to review the quality of psychological services in Iranian sport.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The session
included an online exchange with the Ministry of Science, focusing on the role
of universities in improving the competence of sports psychologists and the
need to shift from quantity-driven approaches to quality-based models.
Strengthening structured cooperation between academic bodies and sports
organizations was also emphasized. The Commission then reviewed the
psychological support provided during recent delegations to Bahrain and Riyadh,
and discussed the requirements for preparing national teams ahead of next
year’s Asian Games in Nagoya and the Sanya Asian Beach Games. A specialized
working group will develop an operational plan to ensure timely assessments,
targeted interventions, and applied training for athletes.
At the end of the meeting,
members stressed the need to reinforce the position of sports psychology within
national teams and to institutionalize mental support as an essential part of
athlete preparation.
