Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth, Dr. Ahmad Donyamali, met with Turkish Minister Osman Aşkın Bak on the sidelines of the Islamic Solidarity Games meetings in Riyadh to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in sport and youth affairs.
Iran NOC; Tehran Dr. Donyamali emphasized on Tehran’s commitment to
strengthening ties with Ankara, noting that sport can play a key role in
expanding relations between the two nations. He highlighted Wrestling as a
shared area of excellence, saying both Iran and Turkey could leverage their
strong traditions in the sport to deepen collaboration. He also proposed
forming a joint working group to implement an existing memorandum of
understanding and expand cooperation in youth programs through online meetings
and technical exchanges.
Minister Aşkın Bak welcomed the proposal and described his
long-standing familiarity with Iran, recalling his previous visits as head of
the Turkish Wrestling Federation. He expressed readiness to host joint training
camps and further exchanges, noting the close sporting connections between the
two countries, including Turkish coaches and athletes working in Iran and
Iranian players active in Turkey.
Both ministers voiced their intention to continue reciprocal visits to
further strengthen sporting and youth cooperation between Iran and Turkey.
