The National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced the eligibility requirements and registration procedures for candidates in the election of the third term of its Athletes’ Commission, following the conclusion of the second term’s mandate.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Registration
for eligible candidates will be open for six working days from Wednesday,
November 18 to Monday, December 2, 2025, between 09:00 and 15:00, at the Shahid
Tehranchi Hall of the National Olympic Academy. (The registration venue has
been temporarily relocated from the NOC meeting hall due to ongoing
renovations.)
Eligibility
Criteria for Candidates
Under Article 5 of the
Athletes’ Commission Election Regulations, candidates must meet the following
conditions:
1. Be at least 16 years old and hold
Iranian nationality.
2. Have no record of sanctions or
violations related to international anti-doping regulations.
3. Have participated in at least one
of the previous three editions of the Summer or Winter Olympic Games.
4. Have won a medal in at least one of
the three previous editions of the Youth Olympic Games.
5. Have won a medal in at least one of
the three previous editions of the Summer or Winter Asian Games.
6. Present an official nomination
letter from their respective national sports federation (which must be a member
of the NOC General Assembly).
7.
Be resident in Iran, or, if residing abroad, be able to attend meetings via
teleconference or videoconference. In cases of dispute between a federation and
an athlete, the NOC Executive Board will serve as the final decision-making
authority.
Eligibility
Criteria for Voters
Athletes eligible to
vote in the election include:
1. Those who have
participated in at least one of the three previous editions of the Summer or
Winter Olympic Games (senior or youth).
2. Those who have won
medals in at least one of the three previous editions of the Summer or Winter
Asian Games.
3. Each national
sports federation that does not have an athlete meeting the above criteria may
nominate one athlete representative to participate in the voting process.
Registration
Procedure
Eligible athletes
seeking to run for membership must personally visit the National Olympic
Academy (Shahid Tehranchi Hall) during the specified period and submit the
following their documents. The NOC has emphasized that the registration
deadline is final and non-extendable.
