The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games officially opened in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Friday evening with a vibrant and well-organized ceremony attended by athletes and officials from 57 Islamic countries.
Iran NOCY Tehran: The Iranian
delegation, dressed in traditional national colors, took part in the parade of
nations led by flag bearers Alireza Moeini from weightlifting and Maryam Barbat
from judo. The contingent drew warm applause as it marched through the main
stadium.
Iran is participating in this
edition of the Games with 190 athletes competing across multiple disciplines.
The delegation’s participation underlines the country’s ongoing commitment to
strengthening sporting ties within the Islamic world and preparing its athletes
for upcoming continental and international events. The opening ceremony
featured cultural performances showcasing Saudi Arabia’s heritage, alongside
the official oath and lighting of the Games’ cauldron, marking the start of one
of the most significant multi-sport events in the Islamic world.
