Mahmoud Khosravivafa, President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Secretary General Dr. Mahdi Alinejad attended the opening ceremony of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh as special guests, accompanied by the NOC’s Vice Presidents.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The ceremony
took place on Friday evening at the main equestrian stadium in Al-Janadriyah,
with senior officials and dignitaries from Islamic nations in attendance.
Khosravivafa and Alinejad, together with Dr. Gholamreza Norouzi and Ms. Mahin
Farhadizad, represented the Iranian NOC in the VIP section reserved for
distinguished guests of the Games. Khosravivafa traveled to Riyadh to
participate both in the opening ceremony and in the Executive Board meeting of
the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA). The 6th edition of the Games, which began
three days ago with preliminary competitions in futsal, volleyball, boxing, and
Kurash, will officially commence tomorrow morning. On the first full day of
events, Iranian athletes are scheduled to compete in volleyball, table tennis,
swimming, judo, boxing, futsal, and weightlifting.
