During the third edition of the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth, Dr. Ahmad Donyamali, emphasized the vital role of sports journalism in shaping national pride and international understanding. In a cordial meeting with the Iranian media delegation covering the Games, Dr. Donyamali described sports reporters as “the narrators of national achievements,” underlining the power of media to inspire hope and convey the nation’s sporting values.

NOC; Tehran: He highlighted that “in today’s interconnected world, the media
are not merely reflecting events, but constructing collective perceptions and
social optimism.” The Minister praised the journalists for their dedication in
showcasing the efforts of Iranian athletes, calling for more analytical,
balanced, and expert-driven reporting to enhance the quality of sports
communication.
Dr.
Donyamali further noted that constructive media criticism serves as a catalyst
for progress, helping both administrators and athletes to improve. He also
referred to sports media as an essential component of sports diplomacy,
enabling nations to introduce their culture, youth potential, and athletic
excellence to the world.
In
another high-level meeting on the sidelines of the Games, Dr. Donyamali and the
President of the National Olympic Committee of Iran, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, met
with Saudi Minister of Sports and NOC President Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al
Faisal, who also serves as President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association
(ISSA). The discussions focused on strengthening the unity of the Islamic world
through sport and on Iran’s readiness to host the Islamic Solidarity Games in
2029.

Abdulaziz commended Iran’s capabilities and expressed appreciation for the
visit of ISSF officials to Tehran, noting that “the interest of multiple Muslim
countries in hosting the Games is a positive sign of vitality and unity in the
Islamic world.” Khosravi Vafa, for his part, welcomed the continuation of
friendly and cooperative sporting relations among Islamic nations. The meetings
were attended by Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General of Iran’s NOC and other
top ranking officials of Sports Ministry.
