Iranian Kurash athletes began their campaign at the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 with two medals — a silver and a bronze — on the opening day of competitions.
                
								
                
									
                    Iran NOC; Tehran: In the men’s -65kg
category, Yousef Baghcheghi defeated opponents from India and Afghanistan to
reach the final, where he faced an Uzbek rival. Despite a strong performance,
he settled for the silver medal after losing in the final bout. On the women’s
side, Mahsa Barzegar, competing in the -70kg weight class, overcame her
Filipino opponent in the opening round with an ippon but fell short against the
representative of Kyrgyzstan in the semifinals to claim the bronze medal. The
Iranian Kurash delegation will continue its participation tomorrow, with
Setayesh Jalaleddin and Mehrab Makrami taking to the mat in their respective
categories. The 3rd Asian Youth Games officially open on 21 October in Bahrain
and will continue until 31 October, featuring young athletes from across Asia
competing in multiple disciplines.
