NOC President Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa and Secretary-General Dr. Mahdi Alinejad Iran met with FIVB President Fabio Azevedo at the Volleyball House to explore new areas of cooperation and strengthen volleyball development in Iran and Central Asia.

emphasized that Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Iran after
football and reaffirmed the NOC’s commitment to advancing women’s participation
in sport. He invited Azevedo to visit Iran during the national league finals to
witness the vibrant atmosphere of Iranian volleyball and meet the country’s
young talents. Dr. Alinejad highlighted Iran’s strategic location and its
potential to become the regional centre for volleyball development in Central
Asia. He also discussed the need for broader media coverage and the inclusion
of volleyball education and training projects under the Olympic Solidarity
framework. Azevedo commended Iran’s achievements, including the U21 world
title, and noted the country’s effective talent development system. He welcomed
progress in women’s participation and expressed his readiness to support the
establishment of a Central Asian Volleyball Development Centre in Iran,
encouraging close collaboration between FIVB, the Iran NOC, and the national
federation.
