The first International and second National Conference on Peace and Sport concluded at the National Olympic Academy with the participation of NOC Vice President Dr. Mahin Farhadizad, members of the Executive Board, federation presidents, and university scholars.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The event
featured presentations by Iranian and international experts from Malaysia,
Brazil, and India on themes such as digital peace, the role of art in promoting
harmony, and the Olympic roots of peaceful coexistence. In her opening remarks,
Dr. Farhadizad highlighted sport as “a powerful tool in pursuit of peace,”
aligning with the Olympic values of equality, friendship, and solidarity. She
emphasized that inner peace is essential before spreading peace through sport
and society. The conference also recognized outstanding contributions across
research, media, photography, and film. Dr. Afsaneh Hessami-Fard, a mountaineer
and physician who has summited 13 peaks above 8,000 meters worldwide, was
honored as Iran’s 2025 National Champion of Peace and Sport for her
humanitarian and inspirational work.
