The inaugural meeting of the Technology and Innovation Department of the National Olympic Committee’s National Team Monitoring Center was convened with the presence of Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary General of the NOC of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hossein Maleki, Chief of the Department, presented an overview of the
department’s main objectives and strategic priorities. Following this, Dr.
Alinejad welcomed the members and emphasized the importance of embracing
technological advancement as an essential factor for institutional progress.
“Embracing modern technologies is
a necessity of our time. Organizations that fail to keep pace will inevitably
fall behind. The competition in elite sports is incredibly close — often
decided by milliseconds. We must have the courage to integrate innovation and
technology across our systems to witness its positive impact. The establishment
of this department marks a first step toward creating a dedicated commission in
this field” The Secretary General highlighted.
Dr. Reza Shajie, Director of the
NOC National Teams Monitoring Center, highlighted that the formation of the
department aligns with directives from the International Olympic Committee,
which has urged National Olympic Committees to utilize emerging technologies
and artificial intelligence in their operations.
He added: “We have gathered
experts from various fields to activate this department. Through stakeholder
collaboration and cross-sectoral partnerships, we can expand the scope of
innovation in Iranian sport. The NOC possesses valuable resources and
capacities that can support federations in their innovation pathways. Promoting
a culture of creativity and innovation in sport is one of our key missions, and
we welcome the insights and experiences of all members.”
At the conclusion of the session,
Dr. Alinejad presented official appointment letters to the members of the
Technology and Innovation Department.
