Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Iran, attended the final day of the sixth Azadi Swimming Cup at the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran, where he followed the performances of national team swimmers preparing for the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.

received reports from Mohsen Sami’Zadeh, head of the national swimming teams,
and head coach John Onsoi on the athletes’ readiness. He also met with
organisers and technical staff, reviewing efforts for the sport’s development. This
year’s Azadi Cup, part of the federation’s annual calendar, brought together
800 swimmers from across the country. The competition saw new national records,
with Amir Motaei breaking the 100m breaststroke record after 15 years and
Mohammad Ghasemi setting a new mark in the 400m freestyle.
