Iran NOC; Tehran: Iranian Freestyle Wrestling team won the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, taking the overall team title for the sixth time in history and the first since 2012. The Iranians collected 145 points to finish ahead of the United States (134) and Japan (111).
The squad earned seven medals in
total: gold for Rahman Amouzad (65kg) and Amirhossein Zare (125kg); silver for
Ahmad Mohammadnejad (61kg) and Amirali Azarpira (97kg); and bronze for Mohammad
Nokhodi (79kg), Kamran Ghasempour (86kg) and Amirhossein Firoozpour (92kg). This
triumph confirms Iran’s return to the top of world freestyle wrestling,
reinforcing its reputation as one of the sport’s dominant nations.
