The Sport Psychology Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Iran convened its 7th meeting at the NOC headquarters in Tehran.
Iran NOC; Tehran: This specialized
session concentrated on continuing the process of drafting a framework of
qualifications and competencies for sport psychologists – a decisive move
designed to raise academic and professional standards, guarantee the quality of
sport psychology services, and strengthen meritocracy in the selection and
employment of specialists. Commission members reviewed scientific criteria from
leading organizations and academic associations, with the goal of finalizing a
set of standardized benchmarks in future sessions. Once completed, these
benchmarks will serve as a reliable basis for evaluating active sport
psychologists under the supervision of the NOC.
Another important part of the
meeting involved the thorough review of resumes submitted by 43 psychologists,
nominated by the Sport Psychology Center of the NOC Academy and other members
of the commission. Building a comprehensive database, defining standard
qualification criteria, and creating a ranking system for sport psychologists
were identified as key steps in organizing and enhancing the quality of
services across the country. This process is expected to provide a strong
foundation for future cooperation between the NOC, national federations, and
the community of sport psychologists in Iran.
