The Iranian men’s U21 volleyball team secured its third world championship title after defeating Italy 3–1 in the final of the 2025 FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship. With this victory, Iran completed the tournament unbeaten, recording nine consecutive wins.
Iran NOC; Tehran: After dropping
the first set 15–25, Iran bounced back with a commanding performance to win the
next three sets 25–18, 25–22, and 25–14. Seyed Matin Hosseini led the scorers
with 18 points, while the team showcased strong defense and serving to seal the
historic triumph in 118 minutes of play. This marks Iran’s third gold medal in
the U21 category, following victories in 2019 and 2023. The squad, coached by
Gholamreza Momeni Moghadam, also secured Iran’s fourth overall medal in this
age group. With the championship win, Iran automatically qualified for the next
edition of the tournament in 2028. The achievement further cements Iran’s
dominance over Italy in youth volleyball, with the final once again
demonstrating the team’s resilience, tactical discipline, and growing legacy on
the world stage.
