Sara Bahmanyar, Iran’s Karate National team member and flagbearer of the Iranian delegation, succeeded in winning the first gold medal for Iran at the 2025 Chengdu World Championships.

NOC; Tehran: The event started on Friday, August 7, 2025, and Sara Bahmanyar
shone in all her matches in the 50 kg weight category to claim the gold medal.
In the group stage, she first defeated “Emma Gardeli” from Croatia 4-0 by
referee decision (Hantei). In her second match, she narrowly beat “Lamia
Yahyanssa” from Canada 5-4. In the third group match, she dominated “Arminia
Perfetto” from Italy 11-3 to advance confidently to the semifinals. In the
semifinals, Bahmanyar won a close and intense match against “Celia Owiken” from
Algeria 4-3, securing her place in the final. In the final, Bahmanyar faced
“Moldir Zhangirbay” from Kazakhstan. The match ended 0-0, but the Iranian
athlete was declared the winner by referee decision (Hantei) and awarded the
gold medal.
In
the women’s individual kata category, Fatemeh Sadeghi represented Iran in Group
One. After advancing from the group stage, she lost in the semifinals and moved
to the bronze medal match but finished fourth, missing out on a medal.
