The second expert meeting on the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh was held at the Ministry of Sport with the presence of Dr. Ahmad Donyamali, Minister of Sport and Youth, and Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General of Iran’s National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The Games, featuring 56 Muslim countries across 24
sports, will officially open on November 3, 2025, in Riyadh. With four months to
go, Iranian officials convened to assess the medal prospects and competitive
outlook for Team Iran and its rivals across each discipline. The Games will
include Athletics, 3x3 Basketball, Camel racing, Equestrian, Esports, Fencing, Futsal,
Handball, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Swimming, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Table Tennis,
volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, Boxing, Duathlon, and three para
sports: para athletics, para weightlifting, and para swimming. However,
organizers may replace para swimming with para table tennis. Due to the pending
confirmation of weight categories and event formats by the Organizing
Committee, Iran’s final squad has not yet been announced, though representation
is expected in most disciplines.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Sport emphasized on the
importance of sending a high-quality, medal-focused delegation. A follow-up
session with national federations is scheduled soon to coordinate preparations.
