The National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Hungarian Olympic Committee signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of sports.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Following an invitation from Mr. Zsolt Gyulay,
President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, to Dr. Mahdi Alineajd, Secretary
General of the Iranian National Olympic Committee, a meeting was held at the
headquarters of the Hungarian Olympic Committee to discuss mutual capacities
and to formalize the signing of the MoU. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mahdi
Alineajd, NOC Secretary-General; Mr. Zsolt Gyulay, President of the Hungarian
NOC; Mr. Bence, Vice President; Mr. László Fábián, Secretary General of the
Hungarian NOC; and Mr. Farid Fattahian, Advisor to the President of the Iranian
NOC. During the meeting, Dr. Alinejad introduced Iran’s strengths in various
sports disciplines and expressed readiness to host joint training camps and
friendly matches. Furthermore, the Secretary General of the Iranian NOC
emphasized on the interest of several Iranian sports federations in cooperating
with Hungarian counterparts, particularly in disciplines where Hungary has a
high level of expertise, including the potential presence of Hungarian coaches
in Iran. In response, Mr. Gyulay acknowledged Iran’s strong potential in
certain sports and expressed interest in organizing joint training camps
between the two countries’ national teams.
On the sidelines of the visit, the NOC Secretary-General also met with
the Iranian Ambassador to Hungary. During the meeting, he expressed
appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iranian ambassadors around
the world for their continued support and cooperation with Iranian sports
delegations attending international events. He highlighted the significant role
embassies can play in enhancing international sports relations and praised the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and especially Iranian embassies — for being a
source of strength and support for national teams abroad. In conclusion, Mr.
Morteza Moradian, Ambassador of Iran to Hungary, welcomed the signing of the
MoU, voiced his support for the development of sports in both countries, and
confirmed the embassy’s readiness to facilitate all related affairs.
