Mr. Tsukada Tamaki, the Japanese Ambassador to Iran, visited the National Olympic Committee and the National Sports Museum, where he met with the NOC President and Secretary General.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The meeting was
attended by Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General,
Dr. Hamid Azizi, Executive Board Member and President of the Golf Federation,
Farid Fattahian and Arash Farhadian, Advisors to the President, Dr. Asghar
Rahimi, Atefeh Eslamian, and the Japanese Ambassador, along with the Embassy's
political and cultural deputies.
At the beginning of the meeting, NOC
President, while welcoming the Japanese ambassador and his entourage, expressed
his happiness that the Iranian sports delegation will be present in the sports
event on the continent hosted by Japan next year. President highlighted that though
NOCs are systematically in contact with the organizing committee to participate
in the Asian Games, experience has shown that effective coordination and
communication with the ambassadors of the host country will lead to better
results. Khosravi Vafa also stated: “We are ready to conclude a cooperation
memorandum of understanding with the Japanese National Olympic Committee in
sports in order to benefit from the sports capacities of both sides, and this
memorandum can be a basis for carrying out joint activities between the two
countries”.
In addition, Japanese Ambassador appreciated
the Iranian National Olympic Committee for the warm welcome and hospitality and
stated: "I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Iranian National Sports
Museum and learned about the history and antiquity of sports in this country.
As the Japanese Ambassador, I would like to have more bilateral cooperation
with Iran in sports. Although the responsibility for this work lies with our
National Olympic Committee, I personally want to pursue this work”. Tamaki also
mentioned the expansion of cooperation in martial arts and mogul skiing and
added: "We are willing to increase the level of cooperation between the
two sides through these two disciplines. Sports are the only field of
cooperation that will not have any restrictions in interaction with countries,
and we are ready to develop bilateral cooperation through sports."
