Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary-General of National Olympic Committee held a meeting with Stefan Joerg Fuchs, Secretary-General of International Muay Thai Federation, Vice-President of SportAccord and President of AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport).
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the
beginning of this meeting, Dr. Alinejad, while welcoming Stephen Fox, stated:
"Hosting the International Refereeing and Coaching Conference in Iran indicates
that we are all supportive of all disciplines, especially for a medal-winning ones
like Muay Thai, which, like many other martial arts, has many fans in Iran. The
government and the people have good support for sports, and in the martial arts,
in disciplines such as Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Wushu, Kurash, and other
disciplines, given our position in continental and global events, indoor and
martial arts games, Asian Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, Combat Games, and
the Olympics, we are ready for any kind of interaction and cooperation, and we
can expand it in other sectors”.
Then, Stephen Fox expressed satisfaction
for holding this meeting and stated: “I am happy to travel to Iran and I am
grateful to you for the necessary support from the Muay Thai Association.
Iranian Muay Thai is considered, if not the best, then among the best and will
definitely be supported by the World Federation. IFMA (International Federation
of Muaythai Associations) is moving in the right direction for the Olympic and
Asian Games and we have definitely counted on the support of the Olympic
Committees in this regard. On the sidelines of the International Refereeing and
Coaching Conference, I visited the facilities of the National Olympic Academy
and even the National Sports Museum and I must say that you have good
facilities and I will definitely reflect it on the Olympic Channel”.
