Mr. Nicholas Roche, the French Ambassador to Tehran held a meeting with Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the NOC President.
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the
beginning of this meeting, the NOC President expressed his appreciation for the
presence of the ambassador and his companions at the National Olympic Committee
and stated: “We are very happy that we can raise issues by holding such
meetings so that both Paris will be a good host and we will be also able to
send our delegation to these games without worry”.
He added: “I am confident that
Paris will organize this Olympics well and regularly, considering the valuable
experiences it has in hosting and holding important events such as the previous
editions of Olympics, and with the news that is being heard, it will certainly
be one of the best and most different Olympic openings we will witness”. Khosravi
Vafa went on to explain the situation of the Iranian delegation and said: “So
far, 22 of our Olympic quotas have been finalized and it is expected that we
will get another 10 to 20 quotas”.
While expressing his satisfaction
for his second meeting with the officials of the National Olympic Committee,
with the aim of more interaction for the presence of the Iranian sports
delegation in the Paris Olympics, the French ambassador, Nicholas Roche, stated:
“I also hope that the Iranian sports delegation will achieve brilliant results
in Paris and that the Iranian athletes will be successful next time. In the
future, when we visit the Olympic Sports Museum, we will see their medals
brought from Paris”.
“According to the policies of the
French government and the headquarters of the games; the embassies of this
country will only act according to the laws and executive instructions. The
emphasis of the headquarters of the Games is to accompany and fully cooperate
with the National Olympic Committee in order to support the Olympic family. In
other departments and groups, according to the instructions announced by the
embassy, the normal procedure will be followed” highlighted the French Ambassador.
At the end of this meeting, Dr.
Seyed Manaf Hashemi, the NOC Secretary General and Iranian Delegation Chef de
Mission in Paris 2024 also explained some of the restrictions and issues
related to the delegation, including the accompanying memebrs and the technical
staff, which were decided in this context and in order to facilitate in the
relationship between the NOC and the embassy, the parties should introduce
representatives and follow up on matters from now on.
