The Environment and Sports Commission of the National Olympic Committee held the third ceremony for commending the champions and activists in sports and environment in the presence of Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi, the NOC Secretary General.

Hashemi stated: “During the present term of office we suggested individuals to
the commissions who, in addition to the consultative view, have practical
measures in their plans. People were chosen who had great success in their
field of work, so the chairs of our two commissions for education and economy
are former ministers. From my point of view, this ceremony should have a
message to the society. Such meetings are naturally symbolic and we may not
demand a specific output, and the sports community should participate in
preserving the environment, water and soil of this country. The environment is
so important that it was put on the agenda of the United Nations in 2013 and
the International Olympic Committee also uses its forces in different countries
to preserve the environment”. By the end of the ceremony, champions and
activists in sports and environment were given awards.
