Kiyoumars Hashemi, the former President of Iran National Olympic Committee was elected as the new Minister of Sports and Youth by the Iranian Parliament’s majority votes of confidence.

Hashemi received 167 vote of confidence to be elected as the sixth Iranian Minister
of Sports and Youth. Hashemi's records in sports include positions such as "Deputy
of Championship and Professional Sports of the Physical Education
Organization", "Deputy of Physical Education and Health of the
Ministry of Education", "Acting President of Football
Federation", "President of the National Olympic Committee ",
"Board Member of the Olympic Council of Asia", "Vice President
of the Asian School Football Federation", "Sports Representative of
the Islamic Republic of Iran in UNESCO", "Chair of the Assemblies of
the Sports Federations" and also the “Director General of Physical
Education Offices in Hamadan and Yazd Provinces”.

Speaker, in addition to the executive and management records, the plans of the
proposed minister are also highlighted in 8 chapters, which include
"organization of youth affairs", "development of sports for all",
"support and strengthening of educational sports", "development
and promotion of championship sports, "organization and expansion of
professional sports", "promotion of culture, ethics and spirituality
in sports", "development and strengthening of women's sports" and
"proportionate and balanced development of sports infrastructure".
