The first day of the 19th edition of Asian Karate Championship in the senior category was accompanied by two gold and three bronze medals of Iranian karate.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The first day
of the 19th Asian Karate Championship in the adult age category ended with two
golds for Atusa Golshadnejad and Behnam Dehghanzadeh and three bronzes for
Fatemeh Sadeghi, Abolfazl Shahrjardi and Amir Mehdizadeh. Atusa Golshad, the meritorious karateka of our
country, won the gold medal in the women's -61kg with four consecutive
victories against opponents from Jordan, Kazakhstan, China, and the United Arab
Emirates and became the champion of Asia.
Behnam Dehghanzadeh, another
Iranian Kumite gold medalist, won the Asian karate championship in men's -55kg with
four victories against the representatives of Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia
and Jordan. Fatemeh Sadeghi, the representative of women's individual kata,
managed to win the bronze medal of the Asian Championship in three rounds of
her kata performance. Also, Abolfazl Shahrjerdi, another kata player, became
third with three rounds of kata performance and won the bronze medal of these
competitions.
