After the unveiling ceremony of the country's Olympians’ busts, Samira Asghari visited the National Sports Museum and attended the meeting of the Women and Sports Commission of the National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC; Tehran: In this
meeting, Ms. Farhadizad welcomed Ms. Samira Asghari, the IOC Member, and
considered the selection of a Muslim woman representative as a member of the
IOC as a great honor for the Islamic sports community, especially Muslim
women's sports. In addition, Mrs. Tahereh Taherian, Vice President of the
National Olympic Committee, while wishing success to Samira Asghari, considered
Iran's women's sports to be the flagship of Muslim women's presence in
international competitions with the Islamic hijab, and while pointing out the
very good relationship between Iran's sports and other Muslim countries,
especially Afghanistan, she said: “In recent years, due to the growth and
capabilities of Iranian managers, coaches and champions, Iranian women have had
an effective presence in the international arena and are winning medals for our
country along with the men's national teams and even are ahead of them. Also,
some of our valuable women have important international positions, and Iranian
women coaches are in charge of leading foreign women's national teams and have
made them proud”.
In addition, Samira Asghari, the
IOC Member, while expressing her satisfaction in attending this meeting, said:
"The growth and development of women's sports in Iran is not comparable to
Afghanistan and even many other Muslim countries, and I am well aware of the
growing trend of women's sports in Iran. And I know what they are doing and the
development of Iranian women's sports is commendable”.
