Hassan Yazdani, the Iranian 86kg National member and Amirhossein Zarre, the 125kg National wrestler made their way to the finals of the World Cup in Oslo and won 2 valuable gold medals.
Iran NOC; Tehran: In the 86kg
weight category, Hassan Yazdani defeated Kazakhstan Bekov by 12-2 in the second
round after a break in the first round. In the next round and the
quarter-finals, he defeated Ethan Ramos of Puerto Rico by 10-0 and advanced to
the semi-finals. At this stage, he passed the Olympic and world bronze medalist
Arthur Nayfonov by 8-2 and reached the final match. He won the final match
against Olympic and world champion David Taylor from the United States by 6-2 to
seal another valuable gold medal in his sport record.
In the 125 kg weight category,
Amir Hossein Zarre, after a break in the first round, defeated Dezanis
Kharamiankov of Belarus by 6-0 in the second round and advanced to the
quarterfinals. At this stage, he defeated the world bronze medalist Nikolas
Goyazdovsky by 10-0 from the United States and reached the semi-finals. The, he
crossed the holder of Olympic and world champion Taha Akgul from Turkey by 4-0
and reached the final match. In this match, Zarre defeated world gold and
Olympic silver medalist Geno Petriashvili from Georgia in a 9-2 contest to
break a 32-year record in heavy weight and reminding the Late Alireza
Soleimani, Iran won the medal for the second time.
