Iran's National Olympic Committee selected on Monday the heavy weight boxer as flag bearer of the Games.
“It’s a great honor to walk ahead of your country’s athletes in the Olympics. I will do my best in the competitions to win a medal,” he said.
Earlier in April, Mazaheri got qualification to compete at upcoming Olympic Games after he overpowered his rivals at the AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifying Event.
The heavyweight boxer qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he lost his debut to Russia's Rakhim Chakhkeiv.
