The 17-year-old Iranian beat Walker 10-9 in the best of 19 frames final after a 10-hour battle to claim the championship in the Indian city of Bangalore, IRNA reported on Sunday.
“The pressure got to me in the end. But I have learnt a bit about how to play under pressure. I thought I had him but Lee is a great player. I am just shocked; I don't know what to say as I hold the trophy,” he said after the match.
The Iranian athlete outclassed opponents from Austria, India, Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Russia, and Australia to reach the final.
The IBSF World Snooker Championship was held from November 27 to December 3 in India, with 85 snooker players from around the globe participating.
Walker described the Iranian teen as a fantastic talent and the best 17-year-old player in the world. “If he had continued to play like he did in the first session, he would have probably won 10-5 or 10-7.
“Having played a few best-of-19 matches and thrice at the Crucible (professional World championship), I knew that though I was trailing 3-7, I was in with a chance. I just stuck to my game and but for the pink that I missed in the last frame, I would have won,” he added.
