Hong Kong festival promotes East Asian Games

The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong-China is using its annual Festival of Sport to promote the 2009 East Asian Games. Sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) and supported by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the 52nd annual festival started on March 14-15.

To celebrate the hosting of the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong in December 2009, the theme "Hong Kong's Readiness for 5th East Asian Games" was chosen, and elements from the 23 sports events of the Games were incorporated into the Opening Programme.

To promote "Sport for All", the general public will be invited to join some 70 sports events organised from March to June 2009. More than 60 National Sports Associations will take part in the festival this year.
