A session was held in the locality of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) to discuss details on Iran's team in the Vietnam games which is slate to be held from October 28 until November 8, 2009,The session was attended by AliAbadi, head of National Sports Organization of Iran and head of NOC, Bahram Afsharzadeh, secretary general of NOC and representatives from federations of gymnasium, archery, chess, squash, Kabaddi, marshal arts, field and tracks, wushu, futsal, basketball, bowling and billiard.
In his opening speech, Aliabadi stressed sending a high-quality team to the games. He loathed not being taken seriously by other teams in the games and argued that only those games should be attended by Iranians which ensure future betterments for the country's sport.
"We should field the fewest number of team members and achieve the highest number of medals and scores in the games," he added. "We should be honest with the people and tell them the truth about the capacities of our athletes so that they may not expect our athletes to perform more that their capacities."
